Choosing A Good Web Designer

One of the most important keys to your online business is a
website. It does not matter what you are selling, a website is
critical to the development of your business. Because of its
importance it is necessary to make sure that your web design is
done correctly. This may be one task that you will be
outsourcing.

Choosing a web designer is like choosing any service provider you
need to be careful and do a little research. Firstly be sure that
you have a good idea of what you need. Define your concept and
understand what market you will be targeting. Then plan your
website around these 2 factors. Once you know exactly what you
need you are ready to choose your web designer.

Choosing: One of the first things to decide is whether you will
choose a local company or go global. This will depend on the
complexity of your proposed web site. If it is fairly complicated
you may want to narrow your field and choose a local company.
Choices will be a little limited but you will have the advantage
of talking to them face-to-face. However if your website does not
require one-on-one discussion then you can broaden your options
and go global.

When you are looking for a web design company the easiest way to
find them is to look online. Just put the keyword "web design"
into Google and many web design companies will come up. Or if you
want to get value for money try hiring a freelance web designer
at http://elance.com or http://guru.com Here are some points to
help you choose:

1. Do your research and gather a list of a few companies.
2. Research each company
a. Look at their website
b. Check their company credentials
c. View examples of their work in their portfolio.
3. Getting quotes
a. For a simple website you can get a basic flat rate
b. For a website that will require ongoing work you may have to
settle for a monthly rate or whatever you can work out with the
company
4. Be specific in your time frame and make sure it is in the
contract.
5. Get references if possible of satisfied clients
6. Before signing a contract be very careful to read everything
including the fine print. Your business and money are on the line
here.

Communication: Once you have chosen your web design company it is
important to have a good line of communication with them. If they
are in the same country you can phone them initially and discuss
your needs. After the initial contact you can continue to
communicate by email. IM messengers are very useful for instant
communication and can be used globally. This is the best form of
communication and will allow you to clear up any problems
instantly. It is very important to build up a good rapport with
your web designer.

With these few points you will be able to simplify the sometimes
difficult task of outsourcing your web design and will get better
results. Remember your website is the first thing your potential
customer will see and you want them to get the best possible
experience. A well designed website will go a long way to
attracting new leads and converting them to the sale.
