The phone is the most amazing device to be created even though we tend to take its presence for granted. To instantly connect with someone and have a two-way conversation, all we have to do is pick up the phone receiver and dial the series of digits. We can reach almost everyone on the planet with this network that extends worldwide.

What Are VoIP Phones?
VoIP or voice over internet protocol is a new way to make phone calls, with more and more people finding it necessary to spend time with their computers. Also called Internet phone service, VoIP transports regular phone calls right through a high-speed internet connection using regular phones or cordless phones. More related information can be found by searching on the terms "voice over ip" on the internet.

Analog Versus Digital - Who Knew?
Phone lines are split into 2 main groups, analog and digital. Most homes run the analog lines. Generally businesses run the digital type systems which provides them with a voicemail and routing system to various offices.

Here’s one precaution to note with digital lines that most people aren't aware of. You can't plug a regular computer / laptop modem into the digital lines; it will often fry the modem circuitry. You can use a phone line tester and test for over current before plugging your modem into the phone line. This will test for digital systems, contact with high voltage wiring and other phone line conditions like reversed polarity and no signal. Most people don't have this type of equipment but if you’re unsure you can call the IT department and they will know what to do.

Business Phone Example: Norstar T7316
Among phones, the Norstar T7316 business series terminal is very suitable for high call volume users who need a lot of interactive information and a programmable set of buttons. This phone is a multi-line professional unit and has a two-line display. Using the Norstar headset with the T7316 phone means you need not lift the phone handset to initiate a call. In addition, the headset reduces tension in the neck, upper back and shoulders.

More About Phone Headsets
Today, not only in the business environment but also in homes abroad people are using headsets that are wired or wireless. The big advantage here is your hands are free to work a keyboard or do other desk relating things like jotting down notes for example.

Phone Tape Recorders
Yet, another useful accessory is the phone tape recorder. This uses cassettes or memory (sometimes removable) for recording information, which can be replayed at will. There are many things to evaluate before you decide to get your phone tape recorder, such as, why you want to record, how long you want to keep the recordings, how you would prefer to search for them, how you want to connect to the phone, who can have access to these recordings, and where the recorder is to be installed. When the phone is in use, automatic recording will start and stop on its own. Manual operation begins soundlessly at anytime you press the record button.

A Little About Phone Tapping
There has been a lot of news about mobile phone tapping recently. The kind of computer based portable interception devices available today can not only record conversation and SMS messages but also organize the information neatly as a database that can be used later when required. The process of doing this is very simple. Many services exist online to get this sort of thing done for you.

To conclude I must say I find the industry increasingly interesting. The market being primarily led by Europe and Japan is showing phones getting smarter, faster, and smaller each year. Will it ever slow down?
